I just watched an Internet performance of "The Merchant of Venice" (at http://www.onlineclics.com/Home.pasp) by the cast of the Royal National Theatre, and was thoroughly impressed with the production, by co-directors Trevor Nunn and Chris Hunt. Turning the play into an intelligent thriller is a stroke of genius. I'd like to hear what others think of this production. Comments? On a related note, I hear that Trevor Nunn is stepping down as the Artistic Director of the Royal National Theatre, and I'm interested in who you think his successor might be. I hear that Jude Kelly has the inside track. -- Steve
