I'll try to help you out as much as I can... Gold symbolizes greed, for one thing. The "carrion of death" (a skull, which symbolizes death) found in the gold casket. By desiring gold, many men choose death because greed often leads to violence and death. The poem found inside the casket reminds us "gilded tombs do worms infold" which means something could look very attractive on the outside, but on the inside could be very ugly. "All the glitters is not gold" The "gold" in this story is the lead casket, but it doesn't look very attractive it doesn't "glitter"
The silver casket symbolizes empty-headed fools, proud men. The Prince of Aragon (who chose the silver casket) looked over the gold casket becuase the writing said "Who chooseth me shall get what many men desire" he called the "many men" fools and said he was above them. The silver chest also symbolizes arrogance.
The lead chest symbolizes one who will risk all for worthy things. One who will look beyond the ugliness of things and see the gold inside them.
I hope I've helped. I"ve tried the best I could...
