i would say that othello as a character is not only validated by the love of someone as good and pure as Desdemona, but also through the magnificance and nobility of his language, and his charismatic leadership and prowess in battle. his identity collapses, not because Desdemona has proven to be an 'impudent strumpet' and now he himself is undeserving of any value of self-worth. Othello self-distructs at the enormity of his error of judgment in killing something so utterly pure and innocent she submits even to her own death out of her love for Othello. as such, he is unworthy of life so stained by the act of killing Desdemona.
